The Shipboard measurement

PREPP carried out three cruises in the estuary and coastal waters and series of cruises in Hong Kong waters. The estuary cruises were implemented in July of 1999, July of 2000 and February of 2001. Chinese research vessels, Haijian (Coastal Monitoring) 74 and Haijing 72 were used in the 1999, 2000 and 2001 cruises. Some small fishing boats were also used fro near shore, shallow waters. A typical cruise coverage in the estuary with the research vessel Haijian 74 is shown below:

The Hong Kong cruises were carried out using small boats from March of 2000 to summer of 2001, once or twice a month according to the season, primarily in Port Shelter. The following picture shows the cruise coverage in Hong Kong.

During the cruises, sufficient essential physical, chemical and biological parameters were measured both ty modern instruments with auto-sensors linked to computers and by traditional standard methods. The table lists the parameters measured in PREPP cruises:
