Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

The subsiding air in the outer circulation of Tropical Cyclone Maria is bringing generally fine and very hot weather to Guangdong. Locally, temperatures over parts of the territory rose to about 33 degrees around noon.

Severe Typhoon Maria has weakened into a typhoon. At noon, Maria was centred about 40 kilometres northwest of Fuzhou. It is forecast to move west-northwest at about 25 kilometres per hour across inland Fujian and weaken gradually.

Weather forecast for this afternoon and tonight

Mainly fine. Very hot in the afternoon. Light winds, becoming moderate southerly winds.

Outlook : Sunny periods tomorrow. Squally showers and thunderstorms in the following few days.

    Weather Situation:
    A broad area of low pressure is bringing unsettled weather to the south China coastal waters.

    Severe Typhoon Maria has weakened into a typhoon. At noon, Maria with maximum sustained winds of about 120 kilometres per hour near its centre was located near 26.3 degrees north, 119.0 degrees east. It is forecast to move west-northwest at about 25 kilometres per hour across inland Fujian and weaken gradually.

    Slight to moderate seas.

    South to southwest force 7 to 8.

    Tropical Cyclone Warning

    Severe Typhoon Maria (1808) has weakened into a Typhoon with central pressure 970 hectopascals. At 110300 UTC, it was centred within 90 nautical miles of two six point four degrees north (26.4 N) one one nine point one degrees east (119.1 E) and is forecast to move west-northwest at about 14 knots for the next 24 hours.

    Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 65 knots.

    Radius of over 33 knot winds 150 nautical miles.
    Radius of over 47 knot winds 90 nautical miles.
    Radius of over 63 knot winds 30 nautical miles.
    Radius of over 2 metre waves 240 nautical miles.

    Dissipated over land.



    The Hong Kong Observatory's tropical cyclone warnings for shipping are issued about one and a half hours after the time of observation. They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

    While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.
