Weather forecast for tonight and tomorrow

Fresh to strong east to southeasterly winds. Mainly cloudy with occasional squally showers and a few thunderstorms. Showers will be heavy at times at first. Temperatures will range between 26 and 29 degrees. Seas will be rough with swells. Winds will moderate gradually later tomorrow.

Outlook : There will still be showers in the following couple of days.

Warnings:
Storm force winds in south of Hong Kong and Shangchuan Dao. Gale force winds in Hong Kong adjacent waters and Shanwei. Strong winds in Nan'ao.

Weather Situation:
At 4 p.m., Tropical Storm Bebinca with maximum sustained winds of about 85 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 21.0 degrees north, 113.6 degrees east. It is forecast to move northward slowly, gradually edging closer to the vicinity of the Pearl River Estuary to the coast of western Guangdong.

Frequent heavy squally showers and thunderstorms.

Tropical Cyclone Warning Bulletin

Here is the latest Tropical Cyclone Warning Bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

The Strong Wind Signal, No. 3 is in force.

This means that winds with mean speeds of 41 to 62 kilometres per hour are expected.

At 4 p.m., Tropical Storm Bebinca was estimated to be about 160 kilometres south-southwest of Hong Kong (near 21.0 degrees north 113.6 degrees east) and is forecast to move northward slowly, gradually edging closer to the vicinity of the Pearl River Estuary to the coast of western Guangdong.

Tropical Cyclone Warning

At 140600 UTC, the tropical storm Bebinca (1816) with central pressure 984 hectopascals was centred within 60 nautical miles of two one point zero degrees north (21.0 N) one one three point seven degrees east (113.7 E) and is forecast to move north slowly for the next 24 hours.

Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 45 knots.

Radius of over 33 knot winds 60 nautical miles over southern semicircle, 30 nautical miles elsewhere.
Radius of over 2 metre waves 120 nautical miles over southern semicircle, 90 nautical miles elsewhere.

Two one point seven degrees north (21.7 N)
One one two point zero degrees east (112.0 E)
Maximum winds 50 knots.

Two zero point six degrees north (20.6 N)

The Hong Kong Observatory's tropical cyclone warnings for shipping are issued about one and a half hours after the time of observation. They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.
