Tropical Weather Discussion for the eastern Pacific Ocean from
03.4S to 30N, east of 120W including the Gulf of California, and
from the Equator to 30N, between 120W and 140W. The following
information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations,
radar, and meteorological analysis.

Based on 0600 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through
0730 UTC.

...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... 

A surface trough extends from the border of Panama and Colombia 
near 08N77W to 05N90W to 03N105W, where it transitions to the 
ITCZ and continues to 05N130W and to beyond 07N140W. Scattered 
moderate convection is noted from 01N to 06N between 88W and 95W.

OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO...Corrected

Fresh to strong N winds continue in the Gulf of Tehunatepec, with
seas of 5 to 7 ft. In the northern Gulf of California, strong SW
winds are feeding into low pressure in the SW U.S. Seas in this
region are also reaching 5 to 7 ft. Offshore Baja California
Norte, a cold front pushing toward the area is leading to fresh
to strong NW winds, and seas are increasing to 6 to 8 ft in NW
swell. Elsewhere across the waters, mainly gentle winds prevail
and seas of 4 to 6 ft.

For the forecast, fresh to strong N winds will prevail in the
Gulf of Tehunatepec through tonight. Elsewhere, mainly gentle 
winds will prevail. Fresh to strong northwest to north winds will
expand in area west of Baja California by tonight and persist 
through the weekend behind a dissipating cold front. Northwest 
swell will attend the front, with seas building to 10 to 14 ft 
west of Baja California by tonight. Seas of 8 to 10 ft will 
build southward, off Baja California Sur on Sat. Fresh to strong 
southwest winds are expected in the northern Gulf of California 
ahead of the front through tonight, and will then diminish to 
fresh speeds Sat.

OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, and 
WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR

Fresh to strong NE to E winds are across the Papagayo region, 
with seas to 7 ft. Moderate N winds are in the Gulf of Panama, 
with seas of 4 to 6 ft. Mainly light to gentle winds are noted 
elsewhere, along with wave heights of 3-5 ft due to a south to 
southwest swell, with the exception of wave heights of up to 6 ft
offshore of Ecuador.

For the forecast, fresh to strong northeast winds will continue 
to pulse each night across the Papagayo region through Sat, then 
diminish to moderate to fresh speeds thereafter. Winds in the 
Gulf of Panama will pulse moderate to fresh, mainly at night into
Sat. Gentle winds will prevail elsewhere. Seas will build 
slightly offshore of Ecuador to the Galapagos Islands through the
end of the week due to a southwest swell. 

REMAINDER OF THE AREA

A cold front stretches from 31N118W to 23N135W. Fresh to strong 
mainly N winds are occurring behind the front, with seas of 9 to
13 ft. Wave heights of 5-7 ft are elsewhere over the area. Broad
high pressure is located east of the front to near the 
Revillagigedo Islands. Moderate winds dominate the open waters 
ahead of the front.

For the forecast, the cold front will move E of the area tonight, 
then gradually dissipate into the weekend, allowing winds behind 
it to relax to moderate to fresh. Increasing NW swell will cause 
seas to increase to 10 to 15 ft N of 26N through the weekend. A 
warm front just W of the area will lead to fresh to strong mainly
E winds into the weekend for areas N of 22N and W of 137W. Seas 
in this region will average 8 to 11 ft.
