Tropical Weather Discussion for the eastern Pacific Ocean from
03.4S to 30N, east of 120W including the Gulf of California, and
from the Equator to 30N, between 120W and 140W. The following
information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations,
radar, and meteorological analysis.

Based on 0000 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through
0230 UTC.

...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... 

A surface trough extends from the Colombia-Panama border near
07N77W to 05N91W to 04N107W. The ITCZ then continues to 06N130W 
to beyond 05N140W. Scattered moderate convection is noted from 
01N to 06N between 83W and 92W.

OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO

Moderate to fresh winds are occurring in the Gulf of Tehunatepec.
W of Baja California, fresh to locally strong winds and seas of 8
to 10 ft in NW swell dominate. Light winds prevail over much of
the Gulf of California, but fresh to locally strong NW winds have
developed over the far northern Gulf. Elsewhere, mainly gentle to
moderate winds prevail with seas of 4 to 6 ft. 

For the forecast, fresh to strong NW to N winds will continue offshore
Baja California through the weekend, along with NW swell. Seas of
8 to 10 ft in this area will gradually diminish. Fresh to strong
winds are expected in the northern Gulf of California tonight,
with seas of 5 to 7 ft. Conditions will then improve into Mon,
before more fresh to locally strong NW winds develop throughout
the Gulf of California early next week. Elsewhere, mainly gentle
winds and seas of 4 to 6 ft will prevail through early next week. 

OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, and 
WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR

Fresh to locally strong NE to E winds prevail across the Papagayo
region with seas of up to 8 ft. Moderate to fresh north winds 
are in the Gulf of Panama. Mainly light to gentle winds are 
noted elsewhere, along with wave heights of 3-5 ft due to a south
to southwest swell, with the exception of wave heights of up to 
6 ft offshore of Ecuador.

For the forecast, fresh to strong northeast winds in the Gulf of
Papagayo region will continue tonight, diminish to fresh speeds
through Mon, then decrease further to gentle to moderate into Thu.
Moderate north winds in the Gulf of Panama will prevail tonight.
Gentle to moderate winds will prevail elsewhere. 

REMAINDER OF THE AREA

N of the ITCZ, widespread moderate to fresh NE winds prevail due
to the gradient between the ITCZ and high pressure to the north.
Seas are 8 to 11 ft. Farther w, strong SE winds N of 22N and W of
135W are associated with a trough west of the area. To the S of
the ITCZ, gentle to moderate E to SE winds prevail with seas of 4
to 6 ft.

For the forecast, NE winds will veer E and subside to moderate 
over most of the area, although the trough to the west will 
continue to support strong winds and higher seas N of 23N and W 
of 137W. Seas elsewhere N of 23N will gradually subside, but 
remain mainly above 8 ft through the weekend.
