Tropical Weather Discussion for the eastern Pacific Ocean from
03.4S to 30N, east of 120W including the Gulf of California, and
from the Equator to 30N, between 120W and 140W. The following
information is based on satellite imagery, weather observations,
radar, and meteorological analysis.

Based on 0000 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through
0230 UTC.

...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH... 

A surface trough extends from Colombia near 09N76W to 06N89W to 
04N113W. The ITCZ extends from 04N113W to 07N130W to beyond 
07N140W. Scattered moderate convection is noted within 180 nm N 
of ITCZ W of 116W.

OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO

A surface ridge extends from strong high pressure across the NE 
Pacific south and southeastward through 30N133W to near 21N116W.
N of 118W, winds are gentle to moderate, and seas are 5 to 7 ft 
in NW swell. To the S of 18N, winds are light to gentle and seas
are 3 to 6 ft. Inside the Gulf of California, fresh northerly 
winds prevail, with seas of 4 to 7 ft.

For the forecast, fresh NW winds in the Gulf of California will 
prevail into this evening before diminishing Wed. Elsewhere, 
gentle to moderate winds will prevail into late. A weak cold 
front will move down the Gulf of California Thu afternoon through
night and bring strong winds to the Gulf behind it through Sat. 
Looking ahead, strong gales will develop in the Gulf of 
Tehuantepec Sat and continue through the weekend. 

OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, 
and WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR

Moderate to locally fresh NE to E winds are noted across the 
Papagayo region, with moderate N to NE winds in the Gulf of 
Panama. Elsewhere, winds are light to gentle with seas of 3 to 5 
ft.

For the forecast, E gap winds across the Papagayo region will pulse to
fresh again tonight, then gradually diminish through the end of
the week. Moderate N to NE winds in the Gulf of Panama will also
pulse tonight, then become light to gentle the remainder of the
week. Mainly gentle winds will prevail elsewhere. Fresh to
strong gap winds will return to Papagayo Sun evening. 

REMAINDER OF THE AREA

1036 mb high pressure across the NE Pacific near 43W136W supports
widespread mainly fresh NE to E winds between the ITCZ and 21N, 
to the W of 120W. Seas are 8 to 11 ft in mixed swell.To the S of
the ITCZ, gentle to moderate E to SE winds prevail with seas of 
5 to 7 ft.

The pressure gradient S of 25N and W of 122W will support fresh 
trades and seas of 8 to 10 ft most of the week. Winds and seas 
will diminish significantly by the weekend as a cold front 
approaches far NW portions of the discussion area.
