Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

The outer rainbands of Tropical Storm Dianmu are bringing squally showers to the vicinity of Pearl River Estuary and the northern part of the South China Sea.

Dianmu has made landfall over Leizhou Peninsula. At 4 p.m., Dianmu was centred about 50 kilometres south of Zhanjiang. It is forecast to move west at about 20 kilometres per hour in the general direction of Beibu Wan.

Weather forecast for tonight and tomorrow

Mainly cloudy with occasional showers and squalls. Showers will ease off later tomorrow. Temperatures will range between 26 and 30 degrees. Moderate to fresh south to southeasterly winds, occasionally strong offshore and on high ground at first. There will be swells.

Outlook : Sunny periods and isolated showers in the following few days.

    Weather Situation:
    Tropical Storm Dianmu has made landfall over Leizhou Peninsula. At 4 p.m., Dianmu with maximum sustained winds of about 65 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 20.8 degrees north, 110.4 degrees east. It is forecast to move west at about 20 kilometres per hour towards the vicinity of Beibu Wan.

    Tropical Cyclone Warning

    At 180600 UTC, Tropical Storm Dianmu (1608) with central pressure 985 hectopascals was centred within 90 nautical miles of two zero point nine degrees north (20.9 N) one one zero point seven degrees east (110.7 E) and is forecast to move west at about 10 knots for the next 24 hours.

    Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 35 knots.

    Radius of over 33 knot winds 60 nautical miles over southern semicircle, 30 nautical miles elsewhere.
    Radius of over 2 metre waves 180 nautical miles.

    Forecast position and intensity at 190600 UTC
    Two zero point five degrees north (20.5 N)
    One zero six point eight degrees east (106.8 E)
    Maximum winds 40 knots.

    Dissipated over land.



    The Hong Kong Observatory's tropical cyclone warnings for shipping are issued about one and a half hours after the time of observation. They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

    While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.

radiation monitoring stations over various parts of the

    1. From readings taken at various locations in Hong Kong during
the period 1987-2015, the background ambient gamma radiation
levels may vary between 0.06 and 0.30 microsievert per hour.

    2. The extent of health effects to a person as a result of
exposure to radiation is expressed by a physical quantity
called equivalent dose, in unit of sievert.  Protective
action may be required if there is an increase in the
ambient gamma dose rate above background such that the total
additional dose is expected to exceed 5000 microsieverts in
a relatively short period of time. For example, a dose of
5000 microsieverts may be reached when the ambient gamma
dose rate is 1000 microsieverts per hour (several thousand
times above background) and lasts for 5 hours.

    3. The readings of ambient gamma radiation level from
instrument are expressed in unit of gray, which is
numerically equal to the gamma dose expressed in sievert.
