The northeast monsoon is affecting the coast of Guangdong.

At 8 a.m., Typhoon Sarika was centred about 390 kilometres east of Manila. It is forecast to move west-northwest at about 18 kilometres per hour towards Luzon.

Mainly fine. The maximum temperature will be about 30 degrees. Moderate to fresh east to northeasterly winds.

Outlook : Mainly fine tomorrow. Becoming cloudy on Monday. Windier with squally showers on Tuesday and Wednesday.

    At 9 a.m., Typhoon Sarika with maximum sustained winds of about 120 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 14.3 degrees north, 124.2 degrees east. It is forecast to move west-northwest at about 18 kilometres per hour towards Luzon.

    Tropical Cyclone Warning

    At 150000 UTC, Typhoon Sarika (1621) with central pressure 970 hectopascals was centred within 60 nautical miles of one four point two degrees north (14.2 N) one two four point three degrees east (124.3 E) and is forecast to move west-northwest at about 10 knots for the next 24 hours.

    Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 65 knots.

    Radius of over 47 knot winds 45 nautical miles.
    Radius of over 63 knot winds 30 nautical miles.

They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

    While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.

    1. From readings taken at various locations in Hong Kong during
the period 1987-2015, the background ambient gamma radiation
levels may vary between 0.06 and 0.30 microsievert per hour.

    2. The extent of health effects to a person as a result of
exposure to radiation is expressed by a physical quantity
called equivalent dose, in unit of sievert.  Protective
action may be required if there is an increase in the
ambient gamma dose rate above background such that the total
additional dose is expected to exceed 5000 microsieverts in
a relatively short period of time. For example, a dose of
5000 microsieverts may be reached when the ambient gamma
dose rate is 1000 microsieverts per hour (several thousand
times above background) and lasts for 5 hours.

    3. The readings of ambient gamma radiation level from
instrument are expressed in unit of gray, which is
numerically equal to the gamma dose expressed in sievert.
