At 1 p.m. at the Hong Kong Observatory the air temperature was 25 degrees Celsius and the relative humidity 98 per cent.
During the past hour the mean UV Index recorded at King's Park was 0.5. The intensity of UV radiation was low.
Tropical Cyclone Haima will move across the northern part of Luzon and enter the South China Sea on Thursday morning. The Observatory will issue Standby Signal, No. 1 by then. According to the present forecast track, Haima will edge closer to the coast of Guangdong on Friday, and may skirt within 100 kilometers of Hong Kong, posing a threat to the territory. The weather is expected to deteriorate significantly on Friday. There will be frequent squalls and heavy rain. Seas will be rough with swells. Members of the public should remain vigilant and take all precautions as early as possible.
Gusts reaching 70 kilometres per hour or above may continue to affect Hong Kong.
