Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

A broad band of clouds brought rainy weather to Guangdong today. Locally, it was overcast with rain. More than 20 millimetres of rainfall were recorded over most parts of the territory, and rainfall even exceeded 50 millimetres over the eastern part of Hong Kong Island, Kwun Tong and Tseung Kwan O. Besides, a cold front formed over central China today and moved southwards gradually. It is expected to bring rainy weather to the coast of Guangdong tomorrow and temperatures will fall significantly over the region.

Weather forecast for Hong Kong (Wednesday, 23 Nov 2016)

Cloudy to overcast with occasional rain. Temperatures will be about 22 degrees at first. Becoming cool significantly during the day. Temperatures will fall to around 15 degrees at night in the urban areas, and two to three degrees lower in the New Territories. Fresh easterly winds, strong offshore and on high ground. Winds will become northerly gradually.

Outlook : Rather cool on Thursday morning. The minimum temperature will be around 14 degrees in the urban areas, and two to three degrees lower in the New Territories. Remaining cool in the latter part of this week.

    An easterly airstream is affecting the south China coastal waters. The northeast monsoon associated with a cold front is expected to affect the south China coastal waters later on Wednesday.

Yesterday's (21 Nov 2016) average ambient gamma radiation
dose rate taken outdoors in Hong Kong ranged from 0.08 to
0.14 microsievert per hour.  These are within the normal
range of fluctuation of the background radiation level in
Hong Kong (see Note). The average dose rates measured at the
radiation monitoring stations over various parts of the
territory were as follows :

    1. From readings taken at various locations in Hong Kong during
the period 1987-2015, the background ambient gamma radiation
levels may vary between 0.06 and 0.30 microsievert per hour.

    2. The extent of health effects to a person as a result of
exposure to radiation is expressed by a physical quantity
called equivalent dose, in unit of sievert.  Protective
action may be required if there is an increase in the
ambient gamma dose rate above background such that the total
additional dose is expected to exceed 5000 microsieverts in
a relatively short period of time. For example, a dose of
5000 microsieverts may be reached when the ambient gamma
dose rate is 1000 microsieverts per hour (several thousand
times above background) and lasts for 5 hours.

    3. The readings of ambient gamma radiation level from
instrument are expressed in unit of gray, which is
numerically equal to the gamma dose expressed in sievert.
