Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

A cold front crossed the coast of Guangdong in the afternoon yesterday. The associated intense northeast monsoon affected the region gradually. Temperatures over the vicinity of the Pearl River Estuary were around six degrees lower than those of the day before. Locally, it was cloudy to overcast with occasional rain. More than 20 millimetres of rainfall were recorded over most parts of the territory, and rainfall even exceeded 40 millimetres over Kwun Tong, Tseung Kwan O and Sai Kung. The intense northeast monsoon is expected to bring rather cool weather to the south China coastal areas today and tomorrow.

Weather forecast for Hong Kong (Thursday, 24 Nov 2016)

Becoming cool significantly. Cloudy with one or two rain patches. The minimum temperature will be about 13 degrees in the urban areas in the morning, and one to two degrees lower in the New Territories. The maximum temperature will be around 17 degrees. Fresh north to northeasterly winds, strong offshore and on high ground at first.

Outlook : Remaining cool in the following few days. Brighter early next week.

    1. From readings taken at various locations in Hong Kong during
the period 1987-2015, the background ambient gamma radiation
levels may vary between 0.06 and 0.30 microsievert per hour.

    2. The extent of health effects to a person as a result of
exposure to radiation is expressed by a physical quantity
called equivalent dose, in unit of sievert.  Protective
action may be required if there is an increase in the
ambient gamma dose rate above background such that the total
additional dose is expected to exceed 5000 microsieverts in
a relatively short period of time. For example, a dose of
5000 microsieverts may be reached when the ambient gamma
dose rate is 1000 microsieverts per hour (several thousand
times above background) and lasts for 5 hours.

    3. The readings of ambient gamma radiation level from
instrument are expressed in unit of gray, which is
numerically equal to the gamma dose expressed in sievert.
