Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

A humid easterly airstream continued to affect the coast of Guangdong today. Locally, it was mainly cloudy with one or two rain patches and mist. The visibility in the harbour once fell below 3000 metres. A cold front is expected to move across the south China coast during the day tomorrow. There will be squally thunderstorms over the region and the weather will become cool significantly.

Weather forecast for Hong Kong (Friday, 31 Mar 2017)

Mainly cloudy with a few rain patches. Coastal fog at first. Moderate east to southeasterly winds. Winds will freshen from the north during the day and rain will become more frequent with squally thunderstorms. Temperatures will fall significantly from a maximum of around 24 degrees to about 16 degrees on Friday night.

Outlook : It will be fine and dry in the following couple of days. Cool in the morning.

    1. From readings taken at various locations in Hong Kong during
the period 1987-2016, the background ambient gamma radiation
levels may vary between 0.06 and 0.30 microsievert per hour.

    2. The extent of health effects to a person as a result of
exposure to radiation is expressed by a physical quantity
called equivalent dose, in unit of sievert.  Protective
action may be required if there is an increase in the
ambient gamma dose rate above background such that the total
additional dose is expected to exceed 5000 microsieverts in
a relatively short period of time. For example, a dose of
5000 microsieverts may be reached when the ambient gamma
dose rate is 1000 microsieverts per hour (several thousand
times above background) and lasts for 5 hours.

    3. The readings of ambient gamma radiation level from
instrument are expressed in unit of gray, which is
numerically equal to the gamma dose expressed in sievert.
