At 6 p.m. at the Hong Kong Observatory the air temperature was 27 degrees Celsius and the relative humidity 94 per cent.
During the past hour the mean UV Index recorded at King's Park was 0.1. The intensity of UV radiation was low.

Areas of thundery showers associated with a broad trough of low pressure will continue to affect Hong Kong in the next couple of hours. Members of the public should be on the alert.

Gusts reaching 80 kilometres per hour or above may continue to affect Hong Kong.

The Thunderstorm Warning has been issued. It will remain effective until 7:00 p.m. today. Isolated squally thunderstorms are expected to occur over Hong Kong.

A broad trough of low pressure is bringing showers and thunderstorms to the northern part of the South China Sea and the coast of Guangdong.

Weather forecast for tonight and tomorrow

Mainly cloudy with occasional showers and a few squally thunderstorms. Temperatures will range between 26 and 30 degrees. Moderate east to southeasterly winds.

Outlook : There will be showers and thunderstorms in the following couple of days. Showers will ease off with sunny periods on Sunday.

range of fluctuation of the background radiation level in

    1. From readings taken at various locations in Hong Kong during
the period 1987-2016, the background ambient gamma radiation
levels may vary between 0.06 and 0.30 microsievert per hour.

    2. The extent of health effects to a person as a result of
exposure to radiation is expressed by a physical quantity
called equivalent dose, in unit of sievert.  Protective
action may be required if there is an increase in the
ambient gamma dose rate above background such that the total
additional dose is expected to exceed 5000 microsieverts in
a relatively short period of time. For example, a dose of
5000 microsieverts may be reached when the ambient gamma
dose rate is 1000 microsieverts per hour (several thousand
times above background) and lasts for 5 hours.

    3. The readings of ambient gamma radiation level from
instrument are expressed in unit of gray, which is
numerically equal to the gamma dose expressed in sievert.
