Weather Information for South China Coastal Waters
Bulletin issued at 15:31 HKT 15/Jul/2017
At 3 p.m. at the Hong Kong Observatory the air temperature was 28 degrees Celsius and the relative humidity 86 per cent.
During the past hour the mean UV Index recorded at King's Park was 5. The intensity of UV radiation was moderate.
The subtropical ridge is covering southeastern China. An area of low pressure over the central part of the South China Sea is bringing unsettled weather to the region. This area of low pressure is expected to intensify gradually and move towards the southern part of Hainan Island and then into Beibu Wan in the next couple of days. It will keep at a distance of more than 500 kilometres from Hong Kong and will not directly affect the territory. However, under the combined effect of the subtropical ridge and the area of low pressure, it will be windier with squally showers over the northern part of the South China Sea on Saturday and Sunday. People out to the sea or engaging in waters sports should take note of the weather changes.
