Weather Information for South China Coastal Waters
Bulletin issued at 11:02 HKT 16/Jul/2017
At 11 a.m. at the Hong Kong Observatory the air temperature was 27 degrees Celsius and the relative humidity 95 per cent.
During the past hour the mean UV Index recorded at King's Park was 2. The intensity of UV radiation was low.
The subtropical ridge is covering southeastern China. Tropical cyclone Talas to the south of Hainan Island is expected to move west or west-northwest today, skirting the southern part of Hainan Island and then moving into Beibu Wan, gradually moving away from Hong Kong. It will not directly affect the territory. However, under the combined effect of the subtropical ridge and Talas, it will be windier with squally showers over the northern part of the South China Sea today. People out to the sea or engaging in water sports should take note of the weather changes.
Gusts reaching 70 kilometres per hour or above may continue to affect Hong Kong.
Please be reminded that:
The Thunderstorm Warning has been issued. It will remain effective until noon today. A few squally thunderstorms are expected to occur over Hong Kong.
