At 3 p.m. at the Hong Kong Observatory the air temperature was 25 degrees Celsius and the relative humidity 97 per cent.
During the past hour the mean UV Index recorded at King's Park was 0.4. The intensity of UV radiation was low.

Though rainstorm warning has been cancelled, people should stay alert to the danger that may be brought about by river flooding.

The Tropical Cyclone Signal No. 3 has been issued.
The Thunderstorm Warning has been issued. It will remain effective until 5:30 p.m. today. Isolated thunderstorms are expected to occur over Hong Kong.

    Warnings:
    Gale force winds in Hong Kong adjacent waters, Shanwei, south of Hong Kong and Shangchuan Dao. Strong winds in Nan'ao.

    Weather Situation:
    At 3 p.m., Tropical Storm Pakhar with maximum sustained winds of about 85 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 22.8 degrees north, 111.6 degrees east. It is forecast to move west-northwest at about 28 kilometres per hour further inland and weaken gradually.

    Tropical Cyclone Warning Bulletin

    Here is the latest Tropical Cyclone Warning Bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

    The Strong Wind Signal, No. 3 is in force.

    This means that winds with mean speeds of 41 to 62 kilometres per hour are expected.

    At 3 p.m., Tropical Storm Pakhar was estimated to be about 270 kilometres west-northwest of Hong Kong (near 22.8 degrees north 111.6 degrees east) and is forecast to move west-northwest at about 28 kilometres per hour further inland and weaken gradually.

    Tropical Cyclone Warning

    Severe Tropical Storm Pakhar (1714) has weakened into a Tropical Storm with central pressure 988 hectopascals. At 270600 UTC, it was centred within 60 nautical miles of two two point eight degrees north (22.8 N) one one one point eight degrees east (111.8 E) and is forecast to move west-northwest at about 15 knots for the next 24 hours.

    Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 45 knots.

    Radius of over 33 knot winds 45 nautical miles.
    Radius of over 2 metre waves 180 nautical miles.

    Forecast position and intensity at 280600 UTC
    Dissipated over land.



    The Hong Kong Observatory's tropical cyclone warnings for shipping are issued about one and a half hours after the time of observation. They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

    While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.

dose rate taken outdoors in Hong Kong ranged from 0.08 to

    1. From readings taken at various locations in Hong Kong during
the period 1987-2016, the background ambient gamma radiation
levels may vary between 0.06 and 0.30 microsievert per hour.

    2. The extent of health effects to a person as a result of
exposure to radiation is expressed by a physical quantity
called equivalent dose, in unit of sievert.  Protective
action may be required if there is an increase in the
ambient gamma dose rate above background such that the total
additional dose is expected to exceed 5000 microsieverts in
a relatively short period of time. For example, a dose of
5000 microsieverts may be reached when the ambient gamma
dose rate is 1000 microsieverts per hour (several thousand
times above background) and lasts for 5 hours.

    3. The readings of ambient gamma radiation level from
instrument are expressed in unit of gray, which is
numerically equal to the gamma dose expressed in sievert.
