Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

An intense winter monsoon persists to bring cold weather to the coast of Guangdong. Locally, temperatures were generally around 9 degrees in the urban areas this morning, and a couple of degrees lower in the New Territories. Meanwhile, a broad band of rain and clouds is covering southern China.

Weather forecast for today

Cloudy with a few rain patches. It will be cold. The maximum temperature will be about 11 degrees in the urban areas, and a few degrees lower in the New Territories. Moderate to fresh northerly winds, occasionally strong offshore later.

Outlook : Cold weather will persist until midweek next week. The weather will be dry and becoming brighter gradually in the latter part of this week. Temperature difference between day and night will be relatively large.

    Tropical Cyclone Warning

    At 040600 UTC, Tropical Depression Bolaven (1801) has weakened into an area of low pressure.

    No further warnings on this area of low pressure will be issued by the Hong Kong Observatory unless regeneration takes place.



    The Hong Kong Observatory's tropical cyclone warnings for shipping are issued about one and a half hours after the time of observation. They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

    While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.
