Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

A broad trough of low pressure brought showers to the coast of Guangdong today. Locally, it was mainly cloudy with occasional heavy showers and thunderstorms. More than 30 millimetres of rainfall were recorded over most parts of the territory, and rainfall even exceeded 70 millimetres over the urban areas, Sai Kung, New Territories West and Lantau Island. The broad trough of low pressure is expected to linger over the south China coast and the northern part of the South China Sea this week, bringing showers to the region.

At 11 p.m., Severe Typhoon Soulik was centred about 630 kilometres south-southeast of Kagoshima. It is forecast to move west-northwest at about 22 kilometres per hour towards the vicinity of the Ryukyu Islands.

Weather forecast for Hong Kong (Tuesday, 21 Aug 2018)

Mainly cloudy with a few showers and squally thunderstorms. Showers will be heavier in the morning. Sunny intervals in the afternoon. Temperatures will range between 26 and 30 degrees. Light winds.

Outlook : Sunny periods and a few showers in the following couple of days.
