Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

Winds were light over the coast of Guangdong yesterday. A broad trough of low pressure brought showers to the northern part of the South China Sea. Locally, it was mainly cloudy with a few showers and relatively low visibility. Showers were heavier over parts of the territory and there were isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon. More than 10 millimetres of rainfall were recorded over the urban areas, New Territories West and Lantau Island, and rainfall even exceeded 30 millimetres over Wan Chai. The broad trough of low pressure is expected to linger over the northern part of the South China Sea and the south China coast this week, bringing showers to the region.

At 11 p.m. last night, Severe Typhoon Soulik was centred about 270 kilometres south-southwest of Kagoshima. It is forecast to move west-northwest at about 22 kilometres per hour across the seas south of Kyushu of Japan.

Weather forecast for Hong Kong

Mainly cloudy with a few showers and isolated thunderstorms. Sunny periods during the day. Visibility will be relatively low. Temperatures will range between 27 and 32 degrees. Light winds.

Outlook : A few showers and sunny intervals in the following couple of days.

Weather information for south China coastal waters issued by the Hong Kong Observatory at 11:30 p.m. on 21 August 2018

Weather Situation:
A broad trough of low pressure is bringing unsettled weather to the south China coastal waters.

At 11 p.m., Severe Typhoon Soulik with maximum sustained winds of about 165 kilometres per hour near its centre was located near 29.4 degrees north, 129.3 degrees east. It is forecast to move west-northwest at about 22 kilometres per hour across the seas south of Kyushu of Japan.

Isolated showers and thunderstorms, visibility relatively low in some areas.
Slight to moderate seas.
