Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

Showers are affecting the coast of Guangdong and the northern part of the South China Sea.

Besides, the area of low pressure near Taiwan has intensified into a tropical depression. At noon, the tropical depression was centred about 50 kilometres north of Gaoxiong. It is forecast to be slow-moving and linger around Taiwan. Meanwhile, Typhoon Cimaron was centred about 400 kilometres east of Kagoshima. It is forecast to move north at about 32 kilometres per hour towards Japan. Typhoon Soulik was centred about 100 kilometres west-northwest of Jeju. It is forecast to move north or north-northeast at about 12 kilometres per hour towards the Korean Peninsula.

Mainly cloudy with a few showers and isolated thunderstorms. Sunny intervals in the afternoon. Light winds.

Outlook : Sunny intervals and a few showers in the next few days.

    Weather Situation:
    Showers and thunderstorms are affecting the south China coastal waters.

    The area of low pressure near Taiwan has intensified into a tropical depression. At noon, the tropical depression with maximum sustained winds of about 45 kilometres per hour near its centre was located near 23.1 degrees north, 120.3 degrees east. It is forecast to be slow-moving and linger around Taiwan.

    Tropical Cyclone Warning

    At 230600 UTC, the tropical depression near Taiwan with central pressure 992 hectopascals was centred within 60 nautical miles of two three point four degrees north (23.4 N) one two zero point four degrees east (120.4 E) and is forecast to be slow moving for the next 24 hours.

    Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 30 knots.

    Radius of over 2 metre waves 120 nautical miles.

    Two four point eight degrees north (24.8 N)
    One two zero point nine degrees east (120.9 E)
    Maximum winds 30 knots.

    The Hong Kong Observatory's tropical cyclone warnings for shipping are issued about one and a half hours after the time of observation. They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

    While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.
