At 9 p.m. at the Hong Kong Observatory the air temperature was 29 degrees Celsius and the relative humidity 81 per cent.

An intense band of thundery showers over inland Guangdong is gradually moving southwards. It may affect Hong Kong in the next couple of hours. Members of the public should be on the alert.

The Thunderstorm Warning has been issued. It will remain effective until 10:45 p.m. today. A few squally thunderstorms are expected to occur over Hong Kong.

Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

Showers are affecting the coast of Guangdong and the northern part of the South China Sea.

At 8 p.m., the tropical depression near Taiwan was centred about 170 kilometres southwest of Taibei. It is forecast to be slow-moving and linger around Taiwan. Meanwhile, Typhoon Cimaron was centred about 190 kilometres south-southwest of Osaka. It is forecast to move north at about 40 kilometres per hour across Japan. Typhoon Soulik was centred about 160 kilometres north of Jeju. It is forecast to move northeast at about 20 kilometres per hour towards the Korean Peninsula.

Weather forecast for tonight and tomorrow

Mainly cloudy with occasional showers and a few squally thunderstorms. Temperatures will range between 26 and 31 degrees tomorrow. Sunny intervals in the afternoon. Light winds.

Outlook : Sunny intervals and a few showers in the following couple of days.

    At 231200 UTC, the tropical depression near Taiwan with central pressure 994 hectopascals was centred within 60 nautical miles of two three point eight degrees north (23.8 N) one two zero point five degrees east (120.5 E) and is forecast to be slow moving for the next 24 hours.

    Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 30 knots.

    Radius of over 2 metre waves 120 nautical miles.
