Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

Showers are affecting the coast of Guangdong and the northern part of the South China Sea.

At 8 a.m., the tropical depression near Taiwan was centred about 140 kilometres southwest of Taibei. It is forecast to move slowly across the Taiwan Strait.

Weather forecast for today

Mainly cloudy with a few showers and isolated thunderstorms. The maximum temperature will be about 31 degrees. Sunny intervals in the afternoon. Light winds.

Outlook : Sunny intervals and a few showers in the next couple of days.

    Showers and thunderstorms are affecting the south China coastal waters.

    At 9 a.m., the tropical depression near Taiwan with maximum sustained winds of about 55 kilometres per hour near its centre was located near 24.2 degrees north, 120.4 degrees east. It is forecast to move slowly across the Taiwan Strait.

    Tropical Cyclone Warning

    At 240000 UTC, the tropical depression near Taiwan with central pressure 994 hectopascals was centred within 60 nautical miles of two four point two degrees north (24.2 N) one two zero point four degrees east (120.4 E) and is forecast to be slow moving for the next 24 hours.

    Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 30 knots.

    Radius of over 2 metre waves 120 nautical miles.

    Two five point four degrees north (25.4 N)
    One one nine point four degrees east (119.4 E)
    Maximum winds 30 knots.

    The Hong Kong Observatory's tropical cyclone warnings for shipping are issued about one and a half hours after the time of observation. They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

    While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.
