Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

Winds are light over the coast of Guangdong. Locally, there was some haze in the afternoon. Visibility in some areas once fell below 5000 metres.

At 4 p.m., the tropical depression near Taiwan was centred about 110 kilometres west-southwest of Taibei. It is forecast to move slowly across the Taiwan Strait towards Fujian.

Weather forecast for tonight and tomorrow

Mainly cloudy with some haze and a few showers. Sunny intervals tomorrow. Isolated thunderstorms later. Temperatures will range between 27 and 32 degrees. Light winds.

Outlook : Sunny intervals and a few showers on Sunday. Showers increasing gradually in the following couple of days.

    Weather Situation:
    Showers and thunderstorms are affecting the south China coastal waters.

    At 4 p.m., the tropical depression near Taiwan with maximum sustained winds of about 55 kilometres per hour near its centre was located near 24.6 degrees north, 120.5 degrees east. It is forecast to move slowly across the Taiwan Strait towards Fujian.

    Area forecasts for the next 24 hours

    West to southwest force 3 to 4.
    Isolated squally showers and thunderstorms. Some haze.
    Slight to moderate seas.

    Nan'ao:
    West force 5 to 6.

    Tropical Cyclone Warning

    At 240600 UTC, the tropical depression near Taiwan with central pressure 994 hectopascals was centred within 60 nautical miles of two four point four degrees north (24.4 N) one two zero point seven degrees east (120.7 E) and is forecast to be slow moving for the next 24 hours.

    Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 30 knots.

    Radius of over 2 metre waves 120 nautical miles.

    Forecast position and intensity at 250600 UTC
    Two five point nine degrees north (25.9 N)
    One one nine point three degrees east (119.3 E)
    Maximum winds 30 knots.

    Dissipated over land.



    The Hong Kong Observatory's tropical cyclone warnings for shipping are issued about one and a half hours after the time of observation. They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

    While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.
