Winds are light over the coast of Guangdong.

Besides, the tropical depression made landfall over Fujian. At 8 a.m., the tropical depression was centred about 180 kilometres northeast of Xiamen. It is forecast to move west at about 12 kilometres per hour across inland Fujian and weaken gradually.

Weather forecast for today

Sunny periods and some haze. A few showers and isolated thunderstorms later. Hot with a maximum temperature of about 32 degrees. Light winds.

Outlook : Sunny intervals and a few showers tomorrow. Showers increasing gradually in the following couple of days.

    Weather information for south China coastal waters issued by the Hong Kong Observatory at 9:30 a.m. on 25 August 2018

    Weather Situation:
    Showers and thunderstorms are affecting the south China coastal waters.

    Besides, the tropical depression made landfall over Fujian. At 9 a.m., the tropical depression over Fujian with maximum sustained winds of about 45 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 25.4 degrees north, 119.5 degrees east. It is forecast to move west at about 12 kilometres per hour across inland Fujian and weaken gradually.

    Tropical Cyclone Warning

    At 250000 UTC, the tropical depression over Fujian with central pressure 996 hectopascals was centred within 60 nautical miles of two five point four degrees north (25.4 N) one one nine point six degrees east (119.6 E) and is forecast to move west at about 6 knots for the next 24 hours.

    Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 25 knots.

    Radius of over 2 metre waves 90 nautical miles.

    Dissipated over land.



    The Hong Kong Observatory's tropical cyclone warnings for shipping are issued about one and a half hours after the time of observation. They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

    While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.
