At 3 a.m. at the Hong Kong Observatory the air temperature was 26 degrees Celsius and the relative humidity 96 per cent.

Though rainstorm warning has been cancelled, people should stay alert to the danger that may be brought about by river flooding.

The Thunderstorm Warning has been issued. It will remain effective until 4:00 a.m. today. Occasional squally thunderstorms are expected to occur over Hong Kong.

Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

A trough of low pressure is bringing showers to the coast of Guangdong and the northern part of the South China Sea. Locally, the heavy showers in the past few hours brought more than 30 millimetres of rainfall to Hong Kong Island and Kowloon.

Weather forecast for today

Cloudy with heavy showers and occasional squally thunderstorms. Temperatures will range between 25 and 29 degrees. Moderate south to southwesterly winds, fresh offshore.

Outlook : Heavy showers and squally thunderstorms in the following couple of days. Showers easing off gradually towards the weekend.
