Widespread heavy rain may affect Hong Kong in a couple of hours. Members of the public should be on the alert.

14.9 millimetres of rainfall were recorded at the Hong Kong Observatory between midnight last night and midday today. 615.1 mm of rainfall have been recorded at the Hong Kong Observatory in August this year. The accumulated rainfall since 1st January up to the end of August this year was 1590.0 mm compared with the normal of 1905.5 mm for the same period.
