At 6 a.m. at the Hong Kong Observatory the air temperature was 25 degrees Celsius and the relative humidity 94 per cent.

A band of thundery showers now to the south of the Pearl River Estuary are gradually edging towards the coastal areas. It may affect Hong Kong in the next couple of hours. Members of the public should be on the alert.

Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

A trough of low pressure is bringing showers to the coastal areas of Guangdong.

At 5 a.m., Super Typhoon Jebi was centred about 1390 kilometres south of Osaka. It is forecast to move northwest at about 20 kilometres per hour across the western North Pacific.

Weather forecast for today

Mainly cloudy with occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms. Showers will ease off and there will be sunny intervals later. The maximum temperature will be around 29 degrees. Light to moderate southerly winds.

Outlook : Sunny periods and one or two showers in the next couple of days.
