At 6 p.m. at the Hong Kong Observatory the air temperature was 31 degrees Celsius and the relative humidity 78 per cent.
During the past hour the mean UV Index recorded at King's Park was 0.1. The intensity of UV radiation was low.

An area of intense thundery showers is affecting New Territories East. It is expected to affect the other parts of Hong Kong in the next couple of hours. Members of the public should be on the alert.

Gusts reaching 80 kilometres per hour or above may continue to affect Hong Kong.

The Thunderstorm Warning has been issued. It will remain effective until 8:30 p.m. today. Squally thunderstorms are expected to occur over Hong Kong.

It was very hot over Guangdong today. Thundery showers triggered by high temperatures are affecting the coastal areas.

Weather forecast for tonight and tomorrow

Mainly cloudy with occasional showers and squally thunderstorms. Showers will be heavy at times at first. There will be sunny periods tomorrow. Relatively low visibility later. Temperatures will range between 27 and 32 degrees. Light winds.

Outlook : Becoming cloudier gradually with a few showers in the following couple of days. Slightly cooler over the weekend.
