Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

The weather is generally fine over Guangdong.

At 5 a.m., the tropical depression over the Luzon Strait was centred about 280 kilometres east of Dongsha. It is forecast to move west or west-southwest at about 14 kilometres per hour across the vicinity of the Luzon Strait and enter the northern part of the South China Sea.

Mainly fine but hazy. Hot during the day with a maximum temperature of about 32 degrees. Light winds.

Outlook : Windy with a few squally showers in the next couple of days.

    Weather information for south China coastal waters issued by the Hong Kong Observatory at 5:30 a.m. on 11 September 2018

    Warnings:
    Gale force winds in Nan'ao and Shanwei. Strong winds in south of Hong Kong and Shangchuan Dao.

    Weather Situation:
    The northeast monsoon is affecting the south China coastal waters.

    At 5 a.m., the tropical depression over the Luzon Strait with maximum sustained winds of about 55 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 21.1 degrees north, 119.4 degrees east. It is forecast to move west or west-southwest at about 14 kilometres per hour across the vicinity of the Luzon Strait and enter the northern part of the South China Sea.

    Area forecasts for the next 24 hours

    Hong Kong Adjacent Waters:
    Northeast force 3 to 4, occasionally force 5.
    A few rain patches. Some haze.
    Slight to moderate seas.

    Nan'ao and Shanwei:
    North to northeast force 6 to 7, becoming cyclonic force 7 to 8 later.
    Frequent heavy squally showers and thunderstorms.
    Rough to very rough seas.

    South of Hong Kong:
    North to northeast force 5 to 6.
    Scattered squally showers and thunderstorms.
    Moderate to rough seas.

    Shangchuan Dao:
    East to northeast force 4 to 5, occasionally force 6.
    Scattered squally showers and thunderstorms.
    Moderate to rough seas.

    Tropical Cyclone Warning

    At 102100 UTC, the tropical depression over the Luzon Strait with central pressure 1000 hectopascals was centred within 90 nautical miles of two one point one degrees north (21.1 N) one one nine point two degrees east (119.2 E) and is forecast to move west or west-southwest at about 8 knots for the next 24 hours.

    Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 30 knots.

    Radius of over 2 metre waves 60 nautical miles.

    Two zero point nine degrees north (20.9 N)
    One one six point two degrees east (116.2 E)
    Maximum winds 40 knots.

    Forecast position and intensity at 122100 UTC

    The Hong Kong Observatory's tropical cyclone warnings for shipping are issued about one and a half hours after the time of observation. They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

    While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.
