Warnings:
Gale force winds in Shangchuan Dao. Strong winds in Hong Kong adjacent waters, Shanwei and south of Hong Kong.

Weather Situation:
At 5 a.m., Tropical Storm Barijat with maximum sustained winds of about 85 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 20.8 degrees north, 111.5 degrees east. It is forecast to move west at about 22 kilometres per hour towards the vicinity of Leizhou Peninsula.

East force 5 to 6, becoming east to southeast force 4 to 5.
A few squally showers.
Moderate to rough seas.

Nan'ao:
East to southeast force 4 to 5.

Tropical Cyclone Warning Bulletin

Here is the latest Tropical Cyclone Warning Bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

The Standby Signal, No. 1 is in force.

At 6 a.m., Tropical Storm Barijat was estimated to be about 340 kilometres west-southwest of Hong Kong (near 20.9 degrees north 111.3 degrees east) and is forecast to move west at about 22 kilometres per hour towards the vicinity of Leizhou Peninsula.

Tropical Cyclone Warning

At 122100 UTC, the tropical storm Barijat (1823) with central pressure 988 hectopascals was centred within 90 nautical miles of two zero point eight degrees north (20.8 N) one one one point five degrees east (111.5 E) and is forecast to move west at about 12 knots for the next 24 hours.

Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 45 knots.

Radius of over 33 knot winds 60 nautical miles.
Radius of over 2 metre waves 120 nautical miles.

Forecast position and intensity at 132100 UTC
Two one point four degrees north (21.4 N)
One zero six point five degrees east (106.5 E)
Maximum winds 25 knots.

Forecast position and intensity at 140900 UTC
Dissipated over land.




The Hong Kong Observatory's tropical cyclone warnings for shipping are issued about one and a half hours after the time of observation. They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.
