Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

Showers are affecting the coastal areas of Guangdong.

Tropical Storm Barijat has made landfall over Zhanjiang. At 9 a.m., Barijat was centred about 290 kilometres southeast of Nanning. It is forecast to move west or west-northwest at about 22 kilometres per hour across Leizhou Peninsula. Meanwhile, Super Typhoon Mangkhut was centred about 1100 kilometres east of Manila. It is forecast to move west-northwest at about 22 kilometres per hour in the general direction of Luzon.

Weather forecast for today

Mainly cloudy with a few squally showers. Sunny intervals. The maximum temperature will be about 31 degrees. Moderate to fresh easterly winds. There will be swells.

Outlook : Very hot on Friday and Saturday. Weather will deteriorate significantly with frequent heavy rain and squalls on Sunday. Seas will be very rough with swells.

    Warnings:
    Gale force winds in Shangchuan Dao. Strong winds in Hong Kong adjacent waters, Shanwei and south of Hong Kong.

    Weather Situation:
    At 9 a.m., Tropical Storm Barijat with maximum sustained winds of about 85 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 21.3 degrees north, 110.6 degrees east. It is forecast to move west or west-northwest at about 22 kilometres per hour across the vicinity of Leizhou Peninsula.

    Tropical Cyclone Warning Bulletin

    Here is the latest Tropical Cyclone Warning Bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

    All signals were cancelled at 7:40 a.m.

    At 8 a.m., Tropical Storm Barijat was centred about 360 kilometres west-southwest of Hong Kong (near 21.1 degrees north 110.9 degrees east) and is forecast to move west or west-northwest at about 22 kilometres per hour towards the vicinity of Leizhou Peninsula.

    There are still swells at first. Members of the public should remain on the alert.

    Tropical Cyclone Warning

    At 130000 UTC, the tropical storm Barijat (1823) with central pressure 988 hectopascals was centred within 90 nautical miles of two one point one degrees north (21.1 N) one one zero point seven degrees east (110.7 E) and is forecast to move west or west-northwest at about 12 knots for the next 24 hours.

    Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 45 knots.

    Radius of over 33 knot winds 30 nautical miles.
    Radius of over 2 metre waves 90 nautical miles.

    Forecast position and intensity at 140000 UTC
    Dissipated over land.



    The Hong Kong Observatory's tropical cyclone warnings for shipping are issued about one and a half hours after the time of observation. They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

    While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.
