Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

Showers are affecting the coastal areas of Guangdong.

At 10 a.m., Tropical Storm Barijat was centred about 270 kilometres southeast of Nanning. It is forecast to move west or west-northwest at about 22 kilometres per hour across Leizhou Peninsula. Meanwhile, Super Typhoon Mangkhut was centred about 1070 kilometres east of Manila. It is forecast to move west-northwest at about 22 kilometres per hour towards the vicinity of Luzon.

Weather forecast for today

Mainly cloudy with a few showers. Sunny intervals. Moderate to fresh easterly winds. There will be swells.

Outlook : Very hot on Friday and Saturday. Weather will deteriorate significantly with frequent heavy rain and squalls on Sunday. Seas will be very rough with swells.

    At 9 a.m., Tropical Storm Barijat with maximum sustained winds of about 85 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 21.3 degrees north, 110.6 degrees east. It is forecast to move west or west-northwest at about 22 kilometres per hour across the vicinity of Leizhou Peninsula.

    Tropical Cyclone Warning

    At 130000 UTC, the tropical storm Barijat (1823) with central pressure 988 hectopascals was centred within 90 nautical miles of two one point one degrees north (21.1 N) one one zero point seven degrees east (110.7 E) and is forecast to move west or west-northwest at about 12 knots for the next 24 hours.

    Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 45 knots.

    Radius of over 33 knot winds 30 nautical miles.
    Radius of over 2 metre waves 90 nautical miles.

    Dissipated over land.
