Mainly cloudy with showers. Isolated squally thunderstorms at first. Showers will ease off during the day tomorrow and there will be sunny periods. Temperatures will range between 26 and 30 degrees. Moderate to fresh east to southeasterly winds, occasionally strong offshore and on high ground in the western part of the territory at first. There will be swells at first.

Outlook : Mainly fine apart from isolated showers in the following couple of days.

    Weather Situation:
    At 4 p.m., Tropical Depression Mangkhut with maximum sustained winds of about 55 kilometres per hour near its centre was located near 23.9 degrees north, 107.0 degrees east. It is forecast to move west-northwest at about 20 kilometres per hour across the inland area of southern China and weaken gradually.

    Tropical Cyclone Warning Bulletin

    Here is the latest Tropical Cyclone Warning Bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

    The Standby Signal, No. 1 is in force.

    At 5 p.m., Tropical Depression Mangkhut was estimated to be about 770 kilometres west-northwest of Hong Kong (near 24.1 degrees north 106.9 degrees east) and is forecast to move west-northwest at about 20 kilometres per hour across the inland area of southern China and weaken gradually.

    With Mangkhut departing from Hong Kong, local winds continue to moderate. However, there are still occasional strong winds at first on high ground and offshore waters in the western part of the territory. Members of the public should remain on the alert.

    When Mangkhut no longer poses a threat to Hong Kong, the Observatory will cancel all tropical cyclone warning signals.

    Mangkhut brought considerable damages to Hong Kong. There may still be risks in the surroundings. Members of the public should remain on the alert for assurance of personal safety.

    There will be swells at first. Members of the public should keep staying away from the shoreline and not to engage in water sports.

    Tropical Cyclone Warning

    Tropical Storm Mangkhut (1822) has weakened into a Tropical Depression with central pressure 994 hectopascals. At 170600 UTC, it was centred within 90 nautical miles of two three point seven degrees north (23.7 N) one zero seven point three degrees east (107.3 E) and is forecast to move west-northwest at about 10 knots for the next 24 hours.

    Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 30 knots.

    Radius of over 2 metre waves 180 nautical miles.

    The Hong Kong Observatory's tropical cyclone warnings for shipping are issued about one and a half hours after the time of observation. They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

    While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.
