Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

The winter monsoon affected southern China yesterday. Locally, it was mainly cloudy. The visibility was relatively low in some areas at first. There were sunny periods during the day. The monsoon is expected to strengthen today and tomorrow. It will be windy and become cold appreciably over the region.

At 11 p.m. last night, the tropical depression to the east of the Philippines was centred about 940 kilometres east-southeast of Manila. It is forecast to move west-northwest at about 18 kilometres per hour in the general direction of the central part of the Philippines.

Weather forecast for Hong Kong (Friday, 28 Dec 2018)

Mainly cloudy. One or two light rain patches at first. It will become cool. Sunny periods during the day. The maximum temperature will be about 20 degrees. Temperatures falling significantly later with a minimum temperature of around 16 degrees in the urban areas, and a couple of degrees lower in the New Territories. Moderate to fresh east to northeasterly winds, strong offshore.

Outlook : Becoming cold and windy in the following few days. A few rain patches early to midweek next week.

    Weather Situation:
    An intense northeast monsoon is affecting the south China coastal waters.

    At 11 p.m., the tropical depression to the east of the Philippines with maximum sustained winds of about 55 kilometres per hour near its centre was located near 10.6 degrees north, 128.7 degrees east. It is forecast to move west-northwest at about 18 kilometres per hour in the general direction of the central part of the Philippines.
