Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

The winter monsoon affected southern China strengthened gradually today. Locally, there were one or two light rain patches at first. It was cool in the morning and at night and there were sunny periods during the day. Under the influence of the intense winter monsoon, cold weather is expected to persist over the coast of Guangdong during the weekend and most of next week. It will also be windy with rain.

At 11 p.m., the tropical depression to the east of the Philippines was centred about 810 kilometres east-southeast of Manila. It is forecast to move west-northwest at about 12 kilometres per hour towards the central part of the Philippines.

Weather forecast for Hong Kong (Saturday, 29 Dec 2018)

Mainly cloudy. It will become cold. Temperatures will range between 12 and 17 degrees in the urban areas, and a couple of degrees lower in the New Territories. Bright periods during the day. Moderate to fresh north to northeasterly winds, occasionally strong offshore and on high ground.

Outlook : Cold weather will persist and it will be windy in the following few days. A few rain patches early to midweek next week.

Weather Situation:
An intense northeast monsoon is affecting the south China coastal waters.

At 11 p.m., the tropical depression to the east of the Philippines with maximum sustained winds of about 55 kilometres per hour near its centre was located near 10.7 degrees north, 127.4 degrees east. It is forecast to move west-northwest at about 12 kilometres per hour towards the central part of the Philippines.
