Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

The winter monsoon is affecting southern China. Locally, temperatures over most parts of the territory around noon were four to five degrees lower than those of yesterday.

At noon, the tropical depression over the Philippines was centred about 520 kilometres southeast of Manila. It is forecast to move west at about 20 kilometres per hour across the central part of the Philippines.

Weather forecast for this afternoon and tonight

Mainly cloudy. Dry with bright periods in the afternoon. Cold at night. Moderate to fresh northerly winds.

Outlook : Cold weather will persist and it will be windier in the next few days. A few rain patches midweek next week.

    An intense northeast monsoon is affecting the south China coastal waters.

    At noon, the tropical depression over the Philippines with maximum sustained winds of about 55 kilometres per hour near its centre was located near 11.6 degrees north, 124.7 degrees east. It is forecast to move west at about 20 kilometres per hour across the central part of the Philippines.

    Tropical Cyclone Warning

    The tropical depression over the Philippines has entered the area of responsibility of the Hong Kong Observatory.

    At 290300 UTC, the tropical depression over the Philippines with central pressure 1000 hectopascals was centred within 90 nautical miles of one one point six degrees north (11.6 N) one two four point seven degrees east (124.7 E) and is forecast to move west at about 10 knots for the next 24 hours.

    Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 30 knots.

    Radius of over 2 metre waves 120 nautical miles.

    Maximum winds 25 knots.

    The Hong Kong Observatory's tropical cyclone warnings for shipping are issued about one and a half hours after the time of observation. They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

    While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.
