The winter monsoon is bringing cold weather to Guangdong.

Weather forecast for today

Mainly cloudy. One or two light rain patches in the morning. It will be cold. The minimum temperature will be about 10 degrees in the urban areas, and a couple of degrees lower in the New Territories. Bright periods during the day. The maximum temperature will be around 15 degrees. Moderate to fresh northerly winds, occasionally strong offshore.

Outlook : Cold weather will persist and it will be windier with a few rain patches on New Year's Day and the following couple of days.

    Tropical Cyclone Warning

    At 292100 UTC, the tropical depression over the Philippines with central pressure 1002 hectopascals was centred within 90 nautical miles of nine point four degrees north (9.4 N) one one nine point two degrees east (119.2 E) and is forecast to move west-southwest at about 16 knots for the next 24 hours.

    Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 25 knots.

    Radius of over 2 metre waves 60 nautical miles.

    No further warnings on this Tropical Depression will be issued by the Hong Kong Observatory unless it re-enters the Hong Kong area of responsibility.

    The Hong Kong Observatory's tropical cyclone warnings for shipping are issued about one and a half hours after the time of observation. They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

    While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.
