Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

Winds were weak over Guangdong yesterday. Locally, it was very hot and hazy with sunny periods. The maximum temperature recorded at the Observatory was 35.0 degrees, the highest so far this year. High temperatures triggered thundery showers, and more than 10 millimetres of rainfall were recorded over many places in the New Territories around evening. Besides, the area of low pressure over the northeastern part of the South China Sea affected the region yesterday, and will move towards the vicinity of Taiwan. A southwesterly airstream is expected to bring unsettled weather to the south China coast today and tomorrow.

At 11 p.m. last night, Tropical Storm Danas was centred about 410 kilometres west-northwest of Okinawa. It is forecast to move north at about 22 kilometres per hour across the East China Sea.

Weather forecast for Hong Kong (Friday, 19 Jul 2019)

Mainly cloudy with occasional showers. A few squally thunderstorms in the morning. Temperatures will range between 28 and 32 degrees. Light winds, becoming moderate southwesterlies.

Outlook : Brighter weather with a few showers in the following few days.

    Weather Situation:
    The area of low pressure over the northeastern part of the South China Sea is bringing unsettled weather to the region.

    At 11 p.m., Tropical Storm Danas with maximum sustained winds of about 75 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 27.4 degrees north, 123.8 degrees east. It is forecast to move north at about 22 kilometres per hour across the East China Sea.

    Tropical Cyclone Warning

    At 181500 UTC, Tropical Storm Danas (1905) with central pressure 988 hectopascals was centred within 60 nautical miles of two seven point three degrees north (27.3 N) one two three point nine degrees east (123.9 E) and is forecast to move north at about 12 knots for the next 24 hours.

    Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 40 knots.

    Radius of over 33 knot winds 150 nautical miles over eastern semicircle, 90 nautical miles elsewhere.
    Radius of over 2 metre waves 270 nautical miles over eastern semicircle, 180 nautical miles elsewhere.

    Forecast position and intensity at 191500 UTC
    Three one point eight degrees north (31.8 N)
    One two four point eight degrees east (124.8 E)
    Maximum winds 40 knots.

    Become extratropical low.



    The Hong Kong Observatory's tropical cyclone warnings for shipping are issued about one and a half hours after the time of observation. They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

    While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.
