Warnings:
Gale force winds in Nan'ao, Shanwei, south of Hong Kong and Shangchuan Dao. Strong winds in Hong Kong adjacent waters.

Weather Situation:
At 4 p.m., the tropical depression with maximum sustained winds of about 45 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 17.9 degrees north, 114.7 degrees east. It is forecast to move northwest at about 15 kilometres per hour towards the vicinity of western Guangdong.

Heavy squally showers and thunderstorms.
Rough seas.

Nan'ao and Shanwei:

Tropical Cyclone Warning Bulletin

Here is the latest Tropical Cyclone Warning Bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

The Standby Signal, No. 1 is in force.

This means that a tropical cyclone now centred within about 800 kilometres of Hong Kong may affect us.

At 6 p.m., the tropical depression over the northern part of the South China Sea was estimated to be about 490 kilometres south of Hong Kong (near 17.9 degrees north 114.6 degrees east) and is forecast to move northwest at about 15 kilometres per hour towards the vicinity of western Guangdong.

Tropical Cyclone Warning

At 300900 UTC, Tropical Depression over the northern part of South China Sea with central pressure 996 hectopascals was centred within 90 nautical miles of one seven point eight degrees north (17.8 N) one one four point six degrees east (114.6 E) and is forecast to move northwest at about 8 knots for the next 24 hours.

Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 25 knots.

Radius of over 2 metre waves 180 nautical miles.

The Hong Kong Observatory's tropical cyclone warnings for shipping are issued about one and a half hours after the time of observation. They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.
