At 5 p.m. at the Hong Kong Observatory the air temperature was 29 degrees Celsius and the relative humidity 81 per cent.
During the past hour the mean UV Index recorded at King's Park was 0.9. The intensity of UV radiation was low.

Announcement on Localised Heavy Rain: Rain was particularly heavy in Lantau Island in Islands District, with more than 70 millimetres of rainfall recorded in the past 1 hour ending at 3:50 p.m. and may cause serious flooding.

The Thunderstorm Warning has been issued. It will remain effective until 6:30 p.m. today. Thunderstorms are expected to occur over Hong Kong.

Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

Showers are affecting the coast of Guangdong and the northern part of the South China Sea. Locally, more than 20 millimetres of rainfall were recorded over Tuen Mun and Kwai Tsing, and rainfall even exceeded 70 millimetres over parts of Lantau Island in the afternoon. Besides, an area of low pressure is bringing unsettled weather to the seas east of the Luzon Strait.

Weather forecast for tonight and tomorrow

Mainly cloudy with occasional showers. There will be thunderstorms and showers will be heavier over parts of the territory at first. The minimum temperature will be about 27 degrees. Showers will ease off with sunny periods tomorrow. The maximum temperature will be around 32 degrees in the urban areas, and a couple of degrees higher in the New Territories. Moderate east to northeasterly winds, occasionally fresh offshore.

Outlook : Becoming fine and very hot in the following couple of days. Dry over the weekend.
