At 3 p.m. at the Hong Kong Observatory the air temperature was 31 degrees Celsius and the relative humidity 70 per cent.
During the past hour the mean UV Index recorded at King's Park was 4. The intensity of UV radiation was moderate.

Hot weather might cause adverse health effects. The Observatory advises the public to stay on the alert.

Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

The anticyclone aloft covering southeastern China is bringing generally fine weather to the region.

The area of low pressure over the vicinity to the east of Taiwan has intensified into a tropical depression. At 1 p.m., the tropical depression was centred about 840 kilometres east-southeast of Taibei. It is forecast to be slow moving.

Weather forecast for this afternoon and tonight

Mainly fine. Hot in the afternoon. Moderate northeasterly winds.

Outlook : There will still be isolated showers at first tomorrow. Becoming fine and dry in the following few days.

Weather information for south China coastal waters issued by the Hong Kong Observatory at 1:25 p.m. on 18 September 2019

Warnings:
Gale force winds in Nan'ao. Strong winds in Shanwei and south of Hong Kong.

Weather Situation:
An easterly airstream is affecting the south China coastal waters.

Besides, the area of low pressure over the vicinity to the east of Taiwan has intensified into a tropical depression. At 1 p.m., the tropical depression with maximum sustained winds of about 55 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 21.8 degrees north, 128.9 degrees east. It is forecast to be slow moving.

East to northeast force 4 to 5.
Isolated showers.
Moderate seas.

Nan'ao:
Northeast force 6 to 7, occasionally force 8.
Rough to very rough seas.
