Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

An anticyclone aloft is covering southern China. Meanwhile, showers are affecting parts of the coast of Guangdong.

At 8 p.m., the tropical depression over the vicinity to the east of Taiwan was centred about 870 kilometres east-southeast of Taibei. It is forecast to be slow-moving.

Weather forecast for tonight and tomorrow

Isolated showers and one or two squally thunderstorms at first. Becoming fine and very hot tomorrow and temperatures will range between 27 and 33 degrees. Moderate east to northeasterly winds.

Outlook : Fine and dry in the following few days.

    Warnings:
    Gale force winds in Nan'ao. Strong winds in Shanwei and south of Hong Kong.

    Weather Situation:
    An easterly airstream is affecting the south China coastal waters.

    At 8 p.m., the tropical depression over the vicinity to the east of Taiwan with maximum sustained winds of about 55 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 22.0 degrees north, 129.4 degrees east. It is forecast to be slow-moving.

    East to northeast force 4 to 5.
    Isolated showers and squally thunderstorms.
    Moderate seas.

    Nan'ao:
    Northeast force 6 to 7, occasionally force 8.
