Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

An anticyclone aloft covered southeastern China while showers affected the coast of Guangdong yesterday. Locally, it was hot with sunny periods. There were occasional showers and squally thunderstorms in the morning and at night. More than 10 millimetres of rainfall were recorded in many places. The anticyclone aloft is expected to bring mainly fine and very hot weather to southern China today and tomorrow.

Besides, an area of low pressure intensified into a tropical depression over the vicinity to the east of Taiwan yesterday morning. At 11 p.m. last night, the tropical depression was centred about 840 kilometres east-southeast of Taibei. It is forecast to be slow-moving.

Weather forecast for Hong Kong

Isolated showers and squally thunderstorms at first. The minimum temperature will be about 26 degrees. Becoming fine and hot during the day. The maximum temperature will be around 32 degrees in the urban areas, and a couple of degrees higher in the New Territories. Moderate east to northeasterly winds.

Outlook : Fine and dry in the following few days.

Warnings:
Gale force winds in Nan'ao. Strong winds in Shanwei and south of Hong Kong.

Weather Situation:
An easterly airstream is affecting the south China coastal waters.

At 11 p.m., the tropical depression over the vicinity to the east of Taiwan with maximum sustained winds of about 55 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 22.2 degrees north, 129.2 degrees east. It is forecast to be slow-moving.

Hong Kong Adjacent Waters:
East to northeast force 4 to 5.
Isolated showers and squally thunderstorms.
Moderate seas.

Nan'ao:
Northeast force 6 to 7, occasionally force 8.
Rough to very rough seas.
