At 11 a.m. at the Hong Kong Observatory the air temperature was 29 degrees Celsius and the relative humidity 68 per cent.
During the past hour the mean UV Index recorded at King's Park was 6. The intensity of UV radiation was high.

Hot weather might cause adverse health effects. The Observatory advises the public to stay on the alert.

Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

The northeast monsoon is bringing generally fine weather to southern China.

At 10 a.m., Severe Tropical Storm Mitag was centred about 880 kilometres southeast of Taibei. It is forecast to move northwest at about 22 kilometres per hour towards the seas east of Taiwan.

Weather forecast for today

Mainly fine. Hot and dry with some haze. Light to moderate east to northeasterly winds.

Outlook : Mainly fine in the next few days. Hot during the day.

Warnings:
Strong winds in Nan'ao.

Weather Situation:
The northeast monsoon is prevailing over the south China coastal waters.

At 9 a.m., Severe Tropical Storm Mitag with maximum sustained winds of about 105 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 18.6 degrees north, 126.7 degrees east. It is forecast to move northwest at about 22 kilometres per hour towards the seas east of Taiwan.

Area forecasts for the next 24 hours

Hong Kong Adjacent Waters:
East to northeast force 4, occasionally force 5.
Some haze.
Moderate seas.

Nan'ao:
North to northeast force 4 to 5, force 6 to 7 later.
Moderate seas, becoming rough seas later.

Shanwei, South of Hong Kong and Shangchuan Dao:
Northeast force 4, occasionally force 5.
Moderate seas.

Outlook for the next 48 hours
North to northwesterly winds of force 4 to 5, occasionally force 6, becoming westerly winds of force 4 to 5 later. Isolated showers and thunderstorms.
