Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

A dry continental airstream brought generally fine weather to southern China yesterday. Locally, it was fine, but hazy in the afternoon. The visibility in the harbour once fell below 4000 metres. Under the influence of a continental airstream, the weather will be fine and hot but hazy over southern China in the next couple of days.

Besides, Tropical Storm Mitag intensified progressively into a typhoon yesterday. At 11 p.m. last night, Mitag was centred about 580 kilometres south-southeast of Taibei. It is forecast to move northwest at about 22 kilometres per hour towards the seas east of Taiwan.

Weather forecast for Hong Kong

Fine but hazy. The minimum temperature will be about 27 degrees. Hot and dry during the day. The maximum temperature will be around 32 degrees in the urban areas, and a couple of degrees higher in the New Territories. Light to moderate northwesterly winds.

Outlook : Mainly fine and hot in the following few days. Still hazy on Tuesday and Wednesday.

    Weather Situation:
    At 11 p.m., Typhoon Mitag with maximum sustained winds of about 120 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 20.6 degrees north, 124.5 degrees east. It is forecast to move northwest at about 22 kilometres per hour towards the seas east of Taiwan.

    North to northwest force 4, becoming west force 4 later.
    Some haze.
    Moderate seas.

    Nan'ao:
    North to northeast force 5 to 6, becoming west to northwest force 6 to 7.

    Tropical Cyclone Warning

    At 291500 UTC, Typhoon Mitag (1918) with central pressure 975 hectopascals was centred within 60 nautical miles of two zero point six degrees north (20.6 N) one two four point five degrees east (124.5 E) and is forecast to move northwest at about 12 knots for the next 24 hours.

    Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 65 knots.

    Radius of over 33 knot winds 210 nautical miles over eastern semicircle, 150 nautical miles elsewhere.
    Radius of over 47 knot winds 60 nautical miles.
    Radius of over 63 knot winds 30 nautical miles.
    Radius of over 2 metre waves 300 nautical miles.

    One two two point two degrees east (122.2 E)
    Maximum winds 85 knots.

They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

    While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.
