During the past hour the mean UV Index recorded at King's Park was 1. The intensity of UV radiation was low.

Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

Under the influence of a continental airstream, the weather is fine but hazy over southern China.

At 8 a.m., Typhoon Mitag was centred about 440 kilometres south-southeast of Taibei. It is forecast to move northwest or north-northwest at about 22 kilometres per hour across the seas east of Taiwan.

Weather forecast for today

Fine and hot but hazy. Dry during the day. The maximum temperature will be around 32 degrees in the urban areas, and a couple of degrees higher in the New Territories. Light to moderate northwesterly winds.

Outlook : Mainly fine and hot in the next few days. Still hazy tomorrow and on Wednesday.

    Weather Situation:
    At 9 a.m., Typhoon Mitag with maximum sustained winds of about 130 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 21.7 degrees north, 123.1 degrees east. It is forecast to move northwest or north-northwest at about 25 kilometres per hour across the seas east of Taiwan.

    Tropical Cyclone Warning

    At 300000 UTC, Typhoon Mitag (1918) with central pressure 965 hectopascals was centred within 60 nautical miles of two one point six degrees north (21.6 N) one two three point one degrees east (123.1 E) and is forecast to move northwest or north-northwest at about 14 knots for the next 24 hours.

    Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 70 knots.

    Radius of over 33 knot winds 210 nautical miles over eastern semicircle, 180 nautical miles elsewhere.
    Radius of over 47 knot winds 60 nautical miles.
    Radius of over 63 knot winds 30 nautical miles.
    Radius of over 2 metre waves 300 nautical miles.

    Two six point seven degrees north (26.7 N)
    One two one point eight degrees east (121.8 E)
    Maximum winds 75 knots.

    The Hong Kong Observatory's tropical cyclone warnings for shipping are issued about one and a half hours after the time of observation. They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

    While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.
