Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

Winds are relatively weak and the weather is generally fine over Guangdong.

At 8 p.m., Typhoon Mitag was centred about 150 kilometres east-southeast of Taibei. It is forecast to move northwest or north-northwest at about 22 kilometres per hour, skirting the coastal waters of northeastern Taiwan, and move in the general direction of the east China coast later.

Weather forecast for tonight and tomorrow

Fine and dry. The minimum temperature will be about 27 degrees. Hot with some haze during the day tomorrow with a maximum temperature of around 32 degrees in the urban areas, and a couple of degrees higher in the New Territories. Light to moderate west to southwesterly winds.

Outlook : Mainly fine and hot in the following couple of days.

Weather Situation:
At 7 p.m., Typhoon Mitag with maximum sustained winds of about 140 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 24.3 degrees north, 122.8 degrees east. It is forecast to move northwest or north-northwest at about 22 kilometres per hour skirting the coastal waters of northeastern Taiwan, and move in the general direction of the east China coast later.

Tropical Cyclone Warning

At 301200 UTC, Typhoon Mitag (1918) with central pressure 960 hectopascals was centred within 60 nautical miles of two four point six degrees north (24.6 N) one two two point nine degrees east (122.9 E) and is forecast to move northwest or west-northwest at about 12 knots for the next 24 hours.

Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 80 knots.

Radius of over 33 knot winds 210 nautical miles.
Radius of over 47 knot winds 120 nautical miles over eastern semicircle, 90 nautical miles elsewhere.
Radius of over 63 knot winds 45 nautical miles.
Radius of over 2 metre waves 300 nautical miles.
