The weather is generally fine over Guangdong.

At 5 a.m., Typhoon Mitag was centred about 470 kilometres south-southeast of Shanghai. It is forecast to move north at about 20 kilometres per hour in the general direction of the east China coast.

Weather forecast for today

Fine and dry. Very hot with some haze during the day with a maximum temperature of around 33 degrees. Light to moderate west to southwesterly winds.

Outlook : Mainly fine and hot in the next couple of days.

At 5 a.m., Typhoon Mitag with maximum sustained winds of about 145 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 27.0 degrees north, 122.5 degrees east. It is forecast to move north at about 20 kilometres per hour in the general direction of the east China coast.

Tropical Cyclone Warning

At 302100 UTC, Typhoon Mitag (1918) with central pressure 965 hectopascals was centred within 60 nautical miles of two seven point zero degrees north (27.0 N) one two two point two degrees east (122.2 E) and is forecast to move north at about 10 knots for the next 24 hours.

Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 75 knots.

Radius of over 33 knot winds 210 nautical miles.
Radius of over 47 knot winds 90 nautical miles.
Radius of over 63 knot winds 45 nautical miles.
Radius of over 2 metre waves 300 nautical miles.

They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.
