Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

An anticyclone aloft brought fine weather to southern China today. Locally, it was fine today and the weather was hot and dry during the day. Temperatures rose to around 32 degrees in the urban areas, and a couple of degrees higher in the New Territories. The anticyclone aloft will continue to bring generally fine and hot weather to Guangdong in the next couple of days.

Besides, Severe Tropical Storm Mitag weakened into a tropical storm today. At 11 p.m., Mitag was centred about 200 kilometres north-northeast of Jeju. It is forecast to move northeast at about 30 kilometres per hour across the Korean Peninsula.

Weather forecast for Hong Kong (Thursday, 3 Oct 2019)

Mainly fine. The minimum temperature will be about 28 degrees. Hot during the day. The maximum temperature will be around 32 degrees in the urban areas, and a couple of degrees higher in the New Territories. Light to moderate west to southwesterly winds.

Outlook : Mainly fine and hot in the following couple of days. It will be slightly cooler, windier with some showers early next week.

    Tropical Cyclone Warning

    At 011500 UTC, Severe Tropical Storm Mitag (1918) with central pressure 984 hectopascals was centred within 60 nautical miles of three zero point two degrees north (30.2 N) one two two point four degrees east (122.4 E) and is forecast to move north-northeast at about 12 knots for the next 24 hours.

    Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 55 knots.

    Radius of over 33 knot winds 180 nautical miles.
    Radius of over 47 knot winds 90 nautical miles.
    Radius of over 2 metre waves 270 nautical miles.

    No further warnings on this Severe Tropical Storm will be issued by the Hong Kong Observatory unless it re-enters the Hong Kong area of responsibility.

    One two six point zero degrees east (126.0 E)
    Maximum winds 45 knots.

    The Hong Kong Observatory's tropical cyclone warnings for shipping are issued about one and a half hours after the time of observation. They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

    While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.
