At 1 p.m. at the Hong Kong Observatory the air temperature was 29 degrees Celsius and the relative humidity 68 per cent.
During the past hour the mean UV Index recorded at King's Park was 4. The intensity of UV radiation was moderate.

A band of intense thundery showers over the northern part of the South China Sea is edging closer to the coastal areas. It may affect Hong Kong in the next couple of hours. Members of the public should be on the alert.

Gusts reaching 70 kilometres per hour or above may affect Hong Kong.

The Thunderstorm Warning was issued at 1:30 p.m. It will remain effective until 3:30 p.m. today. A few squally thunderstorms are expected to occur over Hong Kong.

A strong easterly airstream is affecting the coast of Guangdong. Besides, a band of intense thundery showers associated with an upper-air disturbance is affecting the northern part of the South China Sea and edging closer to the coastal areas gradually.

Weather forecast for this afternoon and tonight

Mainly cloudy with a few showers and squally thunderstorms. Showers will increase gradually. Moderate to fresh easterly winds, occasionally strong offshore and on high ground.

Outlook : Still some showers on Chung Yeung Festival. Showers will ease off and there will be sunny periods in the following couple of days.
